Tourist arrivals drop by 10% in June

The number of tourist arrivals in the month of June has declined by 9.9% in comparison to June, 2025, data from the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) shows.

 

A total of 124,551 tourists arrived in the country last month while in June, 2025, a total of 138,241 foreign nationals visited Sri Lanka, the SLTDA noted.

 

According to data released by the SLTDA, in June, a total of 43,423 tourists arrived from India which accounts to 35.0%. Furthermore, 10,474 persons from the United Kingdom, 8,710 from Australia, 8,224 from China and 3,806 US nationals also visited Sri Lanka last month.
In May, a total of 145,745 tourists visited Sri Lanka.

 

Meanwhile, the number of tourists who arrived in Sri Lanka thus far in 2026 has increased to 1,146,573 with the release of the latest figures for June.

 

Among them, 293,683 individuals are from India, 108,567 from the UK, 77,349 from Russia and 76,171 are from China, the SLTDA noted.
