Man arrested with over 5kg of heroin in Mattakkuliya

An individual has been arrested with over five kilograms of heroin during a raid conducted by officers of the Colombo Crime Detection Bureau (CCDB) along Ferguson Road in Mattakkuliya, police said.

 

The 40-year-old was arrested following a tip-off last afternoon (01).

 

Police seized 5 kilograms and 140 grams of heroin, Rs. 50,000 in cash suspected to be proceeds from drug trafficking, and two mobile phones allegedly used in connection with the narcotics operation.

 

The suspect, a resident of Colombo 10 has been handed over to the Mattakkuliya Police.

 

Further investigations are being conducted by the Mattakkuliya Police.
