Over 650 suspects arrested in island-wide police operations

A total of 652 individuals have been arrested during island-wide operations launched by Sri Lanka Police to apprehend individuals linked to crimes and drug-related offences.
According to Police, 26,377 individuals were subjected to inspection during the operations carried out yesterday (01).
Among those arrested, 25 suspects were directly identified as being involved in criminal offences, while 129 individuals were on outstanding warrants.
Police also stated that 53 individuals were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol, while another 129 were taken into custody for reckless driving.
In addition, legal action was initiated against 4,249 individuals for various other traffic-related offences, Police said.
