
Deputy Speaker Dr. Rizvie Salih and Member of Parliament Rauff Hakeem represented Sri Lanka at the funeral ceremony of Iran's late Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, held on Friday (03), where they paid their final respects.
According to reports, official representatives from numerous countries, including China, Russia, and India, also attended the funeral ceremony.
The reports further stated that representatives from several Asian and European countries, as well as delegates from Africa and Latin America, were present at the ceremony.
The countries represented at the funeral included Russia, China, Pakistan, India, Türkiye, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Iraq, Georgia, Armenia, Afghanistan, Oman, Qatar, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Bangladesh, Egypt, Kazakhstan, Ghana, Nicaragua, the Republic of the Congo, Serbia, Tunisia, Lebanon, Namibia, Malaysia, Cuba, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, The Gambia, and Thailand.
Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who led Iran for more than three decades, was killed on February 28 during the first day of large-scale United States and Israeli air strikes on Tehran.
