The newly appointed Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Damian Fernando met with the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Bandu Edirisinghe, at Air Force Headquarters.

Upon his arrival the Commander of the Navy was accorded a ceremonial Guard of Honour, in keeping with long-standing military traditions.

During the cordial meeting that followed, the two service chiefs exchanged views on matters of mutual interest, with particular focus on the collective role of the Sri Lanka Navy and Air Force in strengthening national security and further enhancing inter-service cooperation, the Sri Lanka Navy said in a statement.

The visit concluded with the exchange of mementoes as a gesture of mutual respect, reflecting the enduring camaraderie and close professional ties between the two Armed Forces, the Navy added.

The new Navy Commander, Vice Admiral Damian Fernando also paid a courtesy call on the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo at the Army Headquarters today.

The Commander of the Navy was received with a ceremonial Guard of Honour, in keeping with time-honoured military customs. 

During a formal meeting, the two senior defence chiefs held discussions on shared interests, with special emphasis on the contributions of the Sri Lanka Army and Navy in bolstering national security, the Navy said in a statement.
