The Colombo Fort Magistrate today (08) ordered the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to report the progress of investigations into the controversial incident in which USD 2.5 million in government funds held by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) was allegedly misappropriated during a loan installment repayment by the Treasury.

The case was taken up today before Colombo Fort Magistrate Pasan Amarasena, said Ada Derana reporter.

Appearing before court, the CID informed the Magistrate that hard drives containing 16 terabytes of computer data obtained in connection with the investigation had been forwarded to the University of Colombo for further analysis.

CID officers stated that the relevant reports from the university had not yet been received.

Furthermore, the CID informed the court that the Government Analyst’s reports relating to the incident were also yet to be received.

Considering the facts presented, the Magistrate ordered the CID to report the progress of the investigations to the court on August 5.
