Met Department forecasts showers, strong winds across parts of island
Several spells of showers are expected in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces, as well as in the Galle, Matara, Kandy, and Nuwara Eliya districts, according to the Department of Meteorology.
A few showers are also likely in the North Western Province, while mainly dry weather is expected to prevail across the rest of the island.
Meanwhile, strong winds of 40–50 km/h can be expected at times over the western slopes of the central hills, the North Central, Sabaragamuwa, and North Western provinces, as well as in the Hambantota, Trincomalee, and Mannar districts.
The public is advised to take necessary precautions to minimize the risk of damage caused by strong winds.
