Bribery Commission files case against ex-Minister Lakshman Yapa at Colombo HC

The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) has filed a case before the Colombo High Court against former Minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena over an alleged bribery offence.

 

According to the case, Abeywardena is accused of accepting a bribe of Rs. 1 million from a businessman in 2013 while serving as Minister of Investment Promotion in return for facilitating a matter relating to the Board of Investment (BOI).

 

The Bribery Commission has filed the case under two charges in terms of the Bribery Act.

 

The matter is expected to proceed before the Colombo High Court.
