Several spells of showers are expected across the Western, Sabaragamuwa and North Western provinces and in the Galle, Matara, Kandy and Nuwara Eliya districts today (10), the Department of Meteorology stated.
Meanwhile, showers or thundershowers will occur at a few places in the Mullaitivu, Ampara and Batticaloa districts after 2.00 p.m., the Met. Department noted.
Strong winds reaching speeds of 40–50 km/h are also expected at times over the western slopes of the Central Hills, the North Central and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in the Monaragala, Puttalam, Hambantota, Trincomalee and Mannar districts.
The Met. Department has advised the general public to take necessary precautions to minimize damage from temporary localized strong winds and lightning associated with thundershowers.
