Tourism sector earns over USD 1.5 bln as arrivals approach 1.2 mln - State Minister

State Minister of Tourism Ruwan Ranasinghe has stated that the number of tourists who have visited Sri Lanka so far in 2026 has reached nearly 1.2 million.
The State Minister made these remarks while addressing a press conference held in Colombo.
He further noted that tourist arrivals during this period have contributed to foreign exchange earnings exceeding USD 1.5 billion.
State Minister Ranasinghe expressed confidence that, with the continued positive growth in the country’s tourism sector, Sri Lanka is on track to achieve its target of attracting 2.5 million tourist arrivals in 2026.
