New Navy Commander calls on Chief Prelates of Malwathu and Asgiri Chapters

The newly appointed Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy, Vice Admiral Damian Fernando, has called on the Chief Prelates of the Malwathu and Asgiri Chapters and had received their blessings during a visit to Kandy.

 

Vice Admiral Fernando first visited the Malwathu Maha Viharaya, where he met the Most Venerable Thibbatuwawe Sri Siddhartha Sumangala Mahanayake Thera of the Malwathu Chapter and received his blessings.

 

He then proceeded to the historic Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, where he was welcomed by Diyawadana Nilame Pradeep Nilanga Dela. The Navy Commander paid homage to the Sacred Tooth Relic and invoked blessings for the successful fulfilment of the Sri Lanka Navy's future responsibilities.

 

Subsequently, Vice Admiral Fernando visited the Asgiri Maha Viharaya and called on the Most Venerable Warakagoda Dhammasiddhi Sri Pannananda Gnanarathana Thera of the Asgiri Chapter, receiving his blessings.

 

Chairperson of the Sri Lanka Navy Seva Vanitha Unit, Kaushalya Opatha Fernando, also participated in the visit.

 

The occasion was also attended by Navy Secretary and Secretary to the Commander of the Navy, Commodore Kumara Munasinghe, Commanding Officer of the Sri Lanka Naval and Maritime Academy, Captain Hemantha Ranasinghe, along with several other senior naval officers.
