An Airbus A330 passenger aircraft that departed from Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) for Istanbul, Türkiye, this morning (11), was reportedly struck by a bird during the flight.
The aircraft is currently flying over the sea area near the Negombo Lagoon at a higher altitude while carrying out fuel-burning procedures as part of precautionary measures, said Ada Derana reporter.
The aircraft had earlier flown at a lower altitude over the Chilaw area while burning fuel in preparation for a safe emergency landing.
The aircraft, operating as flight TK-731, departed from Katunayake International Airport at 7:07 a.m. with 246 passengers on board. It is an Airbus A330 wide-body passenger aircraft, said Ada Derana reporter.
