
The National Dengue Control Unit has stated that the number of dengue-related deaths reported in the country has increased to 47.
Issuing a statement, the unit highlighted the latest dengue situation in the country.
Accordingly, a total of 67,174 dengue cases have been reported islandwide so far this year.
Acting Director of the Dengue Control Unit, Dr. Kapila Kannangara, stated that 10,685 cases were recorded during the first nine days of July alone, with approximately 1,110 cases reported yesterday (10).
The doctor further noted that several major hospitals have reached their maximum capacity, placing significant pressure on the healthcare system and resulting in overcrowding at medical facilities.
