The University of Visual and Performing Arts in Colombo, which was closed for two weeks due to the spread of dengue, will reopen tomorrow (13), the university administration announced.

In line with the ‘Clean Sri Lanka programme,’ the university premises were cleaned and fumigated today ahead of reopening.

Meanwhile, more than 67,000 dengue cases have been reported across the country so far this year, with 47 deaths recorded.

Public Health Inspectors (PHIs) said strict legal action is being taken against individuals who allow mosquito breeding sites to remain on their premises as authorities intensify efforts to curb the outbreak.

With dengue infections continuing to rise rapidly, special mosquito control operations were carried out in several areas today (12) as part of ongoing prevention measures.

In a related development, PHIs have initiated legal action against an elderly care home in Battaramulla after mosquito larvae were discovered on the premises.
