
Pottuvil recorded the highest temperature in Sri Lanka today (12), with the mercury reaching 38.0 degrees Celsius, the Department of Meteorology said.
According to the Department, the reading was recorded at the Pottuvil weather station.
The second-highest temperature of the day was recorded in Polonnaruwa at 37.2 degrees Celsius.
The Department of Meteorology said the figures were based on maximum temperatures recorded by its regional weather monitoring stations during the afternoon.
