Government denies VIP security provided to 11 Individuals

Cabinet Spokesman Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa has denied reports that VIP security has been provided to 11 individuals, including several parliamentarians.

 

Responding to a question from a journalist at the weekly Cabinet media briefing today (14), Minister Jayatissa said no special security arrangements had been granted to the individuals mentioned in the reports.

 

Reports had recently claimed that VIP security had been assigned to 11 persons, including Asoka Ranwala, Mohamed Rizvie Salih, Sarath Kumara, Ajith Shantha, Ruwan Wijeweera, Thilanka U Gamage, Sunil Biyanwila, Dinesh Hemantha, Ranjith Madduma Bandara, H.A. Dharmasena, and Ven. Galagoda Aththe Gnanasara Thero.

 

Minister Jayatissa said the Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of VIP Security had informed the Inspector General of Police that no special or VIP security had been provided to the individuals concerned.

 

He added that, according to the information provided by the police, none of the 11 persons had been assigned VIP security.
