Police recover two bodies in Galewela and Deraniyagala

Police have launched investigations after two bodies were discovered in separate incidents in Galewela and Deraniyagala.

 

Galewela Police launched an investigation after receiving information last evening (14) that the body of an elderly woman had been found near a railway bridge at Halmillagama along the North-West Canal in Galewela.

 

The deceased has been identified as an 82-year-old resident of Galewela. Police investigations revealed that she had been suffering from a mental illness and had left her home on July 13.

 

Her body has been placed at the morgue of the Dambulla Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

 

Further investigations are being carried out by Galewela Police.

 

In a separate incident, Deraniyagala Police launched an investigation after receiving information that the body of a man had been found in the Bopakanda Oya within the Deraniyagala Police Division.

 

The deceased has been identified as a 27-year-old resident of Deraniyagala.

 

Following the magisterial inquiry, the body was transferred to the morgue of the Deraniyagala Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

 

Deraniyagala Police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
