Police probe underway into death threats against Millaniya PS Chairman

The Horana Headquarters Police have launched an investigation following a complaint that the Chairman of the Millaniya Pradeshiya Sabha, Saman Sujeewa Jayathunga received death threats through an anonymous telephone call.

 

Police said the complaint was lodged after an unidentified person allegedly contacted the Chairman’s mobile phone at around 1.00 a.m. today (15) and issued a threat to kill him before dawn.

 

Following the alleged threat, the Chairman informed the police emergency hotline, prompting a team of officers from the Horana Headquarters Police to visit his residence and record a formal complaint.

 

Police said technical investigations are underway to identify the person behind the call by examining the relevant telephone number and call records.

 

Steps have been taken to ensure the safety of the Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman.

 

Further investigations into the incident are being conducted by the Horana Headquarters Police.
