Ada Derana picks up several top awards at Sumathi Awards 2026

Ada Derana’s “Rebuild Sri Lanka” programme, directed by Rukmal Mallawa, has won the award for the ‘Best Current Affairs Programme’ at the Sumathi Awards 2026.

 

Ada Derana’s “Science for Life” programme, directed by K.C. Saranga, has secured the award for the ‘Best Educational Programme’ at the awards ceremony.

 

Ada Derana also won awards for ‘Investigative News Reporting' and ‘Current Affairs Reporting'. 

 

Further adding to its accolades, Ada Derana's news presenter, Parindya Gunasekara, was honoured with the 'Best News Presenter' award.

 

Ada Derana's "360°" Programme has also been recognised with the award for the 'Best Political Programme'.

 

Meanwhile, Derana Macro Entertainment's "Pulse" website has won the award for the 'Best Lifestyle and Fashion Programme' in the Digital Media Category.

 

Furthermore, Ada Derana’s "Vishwavidyalawala Nawakavadaya", directed by Ravidu Wijesinghe, has won third place in the 'Best Television Current News Reporting' category at the Sumathi Awards 2026.

 

The 31st edition of the Sumathi Awards, one of the most popular television awards shows in Sri Lanka, is being held this evening (15) at the Monarch Imperial Hotel in Sri Jayawardenepura Kotte.
