Three suspects have been arrested in two separate operations carried out by the Police, with the seizure of more than 2.6 kilograms of the narcotic substance Crystal methamphetamine ('Ice').
Officers attached to the Southern Expressway Aparekka Sub-Control Station intercepted a car travelling towards Colombo yesterday (15).
During the inspection, police had recovered 2 kilograms and 554 milligrams of ‘Ice’ concealed inside the vehicle.
The two suspects, aged 28 and 32, are residents of the Borella area, Police said.
The car used to transport the drugs was also taken into police custody before the suspects were handed over to the Thihagoda Police Station for further investigations.
In a separate operation, carried out last evening, officers from the Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB) had arrested a 43-year-old suspect in the Wellawatte Police Division after acting on a tip-off.
Police recovered 102 grams of ‘Ice’ from the suspect, who is a resident of the Kirulapone area, Police stated.
Further investigations into both incidents are being conducted by the Thihagoda Police and the PNB, respectively.
