Sri Lanka’s Dengue cases rise to 72,430 so far this year

The number of dengue cases reported so far this year has increased to 72,430, according to the National Dengue Control Unit.

 

A total of 1,195 dengue cases were reported yesterday (15), the unit stated.

 

During the first 15 days of July alone, 17,051 dengue infections have been identified.

 

The highest number of cases has been reported from the Western Province, with a total of 38,160 infections.

 

The National Dengue Control Unit further stated that 11,274 cases have been reported from the Southern Province, 6,073 from the Sabaragamuwa Province, and 6,026 from the Central Province.

 

During July, 15,082 dengue cases were recorded in the Gampaha District, while 14,447 cases were reported from the Colombo District and 5,124 from the Matara District.

 

The National Dengue Control Unit added that 49 deaths have been reported so far due to dengue infections.
