
The National Dengue Control Unit has reported that the number of dengue cases recorded in Sri Lanka during the year so far has exceeded 73,000.
Accordingly, the unit stated that, as of yesterday (16), the total number of dengue cases reported in the country had increased to 73,455, while 50 dengue-related deaths had also been recorded.
A total of 1,025 dengue cases were reported yesterday alone.
The highest number of dengue cases has been reported from the Western Province, with 38,700 cases recorded.
Within the Western Province, the Gampaha District has reported the highest number of cases, amounting to 15,341. Meanwhile, 14,625 cases have been reported from the Colombo District.
Furthermore, 18,076 dengue cases have been reported during the first 16 days of July.
The highest monthly number of dengue cases recorded so far this year was reported in June, with 21,538 cases.
