The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) has stated that there are currently no plans to discontinue the QR code-based fuel quota system.
CPC Managing Director Mayura Neththikumarage said the system will remain in place due to continued uncertainty in the global fuel market.
He noted that the QR code-based fuel quota system helps manage both fuel supplies and the country's foreign exchange reserves.
Neththikumarage further stated that the CPC has decided to continue the system to prevent the re-emergence of fuel queues and the inconvenience they could cause to the public should the prevailing global conflict escalate further.
He also said that the recent escalation of the conflict has not affected Sri Lanka's fuel supply network, adding that the CPC is continuously monitoring the global situation for any potential increase in fuel prices.
