The Paddy Marketing Board (PMB) says it has purchased 305 metric tons of paddy since the commencement of the 2026 Yala season paddy procurement programme.
PMB Chairman Manjula Pinnalanda stated that the total quantity was procured during the four-day period from July 13 to July 17.
He further noted that the largest volume of paddy has been purchased from the Ampara District, while substantial quantities have also been procured from the Mullaitivu, Kilinochchi, Vavuniya, and Hambantota districts.
The Yala season paddy procurement programme commenced on July 13, with the PMB opening paddy storage facilities in major harvesting areas to facilitate purchases.
The Board had earlier announced the guaranteed purchase prices, with Nadu paddy being purchased at Rs. 120 per kilogram, Samba paddy at Rs. 130 per kilogram, and Keeri Samba paddy at Rs. 140 per kilogram.
Chairman Manjula Pinnalanda added that paddy procurement is currently being carried out at 143 paddy storage centres across the country under the approved pricing scheme.
