Two youths have been killed following a collision between the motorcycle they were travelling on and a tipper truck near the bend at Kananwila Temple on the Horana–Moragahahena Road in the early hours of today (19).

The accident had occurred at around 2.30 a.m. when the motorcycle, reportedly travelling at high speed, allegedly went out of control, veered into the opposite lane, and collided head-on with a sand-laden tipper truck.

The motorcycle rider and the pillion passenger, who sustained serious injuries in the collision, were admitted to Horana Hospital, where they later succumbed to their injuries.

The deceased have been identified as 25-year-old Dilshan Madusara Seneviratne of Pannipitiya and 17-year-old Udeesha Sithmina of Kiriwaththuduwa, police said.
