
The National Dengue Control Unit (NDCU) has stated that the number of dengue-related deaths reported in Sri Lanka has risen to 61.
According to a report issued by the unit, the total number of dengue cases reported in the country so far this year has increased to 80,905. Of these, 25,530 cases have been recorded during July up to yesterday (24).
During the year to date, the highest number of dengue cases has been reported from the Gampaha District, with 17,135 cases, followed by the Colombo District with 16,140 cases and the Matara District with 5,574 cases.
The NDCU further stated that 42,835 dengue cases have been reported from the Western Province, while 12,260 cases have been recorded in the Southern Province and 6,924 cases in the Central Province.
