
The post-mortem examination of the inmate who died during the Mahara Prison unrest was conducted today (03) by a special team of judicial medical officers at the morgue of the Ragama Teaching Hospital.
The examination determined that the cause of death was excessive blood loss, according to reports.
Following the post-mortem examination, the inmate’s remains were handed over to his relatives in Wattala this afternoon.
Authorities are continuing investigations into the incident.
