A suspect linked to an attempted shooting and murder incident reported in Kuppiyawatta, Dematagoda, on July 23, has been arrested by officers of the Borella Police Station.
Police said the incident involved two unidentified individuals who arrived on a motorcycle and attempted to shoot and kill a person. Acting on information received regarding a suspect connected to the incident, police conducted a raid in the Lake Drive area yesterday.
During the operation, a 23-year-old resident of Borella was arrested along with 10 packets containing 900 milligrams of crystal methamphetamine.
Investigations have revealed that the suspect had allegedly acted as the rider of the motorcycle used in the shooting incident.
A second suspect, a 24-year-old resident of Borella who was reportedly with the arrested individual, was also taken into custody.
Police are conducting further investigations to determine whether he was involved in the shooting incident.
