The Disaster Management Centre (DMC) will introduce five special telephone numbers to report disaster situations that may occur during the Grade 5 Scholarship Examination and the 2026 G.C.E. Advanced Level Examination period.

DMC Director Pradeep Kodippili said the new system will be implemented with the continuous support of the tri-forces and Police to ensure necessary assistance during the examination period.

He said the DMC has prepared a special emergency response plan in coordination with all relevant institutions to address possible disasters before, during and after examination days.

Under the programme, arrangements have been made to provide transport facilities for students to reach examination centres in the event of emergencies, ensure the safe transportation of examination papers and support officials engaged in examination duties.

Kodippili said the five new contact numbers will be announced one day before the examinations commence. He added that the DMC’s emergency hotline 117 will also remain active for public assistance.

He further stated that technical situation updates will be issued every three to six hours, while the tri-forces and Police will continue coordinated operations throughout the examination period.
