Fairly heavy showers of around 75 mm are likely at some places in the Sabaragamuwa Province and in the Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Galle and Matara districts today (07), according to the Department of Meteorology.
Showers or thundershowers are expected at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and North Western provinces and in the Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Galle and Matara districts. Cloudy skies are expected to prevail over these areas throughout the day, the Met. Department noted.
Strong winds of 40 to 50 km/h can also be expected at times over the North Central, Sabaragamuwa, Southern, Central and North Western provinces.
Meanwhile, authorities have urged the general public to take adequate precautions to minimise the impact of temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
