
A man has been arrested by the Western Province South Crime Division for allegedly printing counterfeit currency notes.
Police said the suspect was arrested during a raid conducted in the Kotte Road area of Mirihana based on information received by officers of the Western Province South Crime Division.
During the raid, police had seized seven counterfeit Rs. 5,000 notes, six Rs. 1,000 notes, one Rs. 500 note, a computer, a scanner and several other items allegedly used in the printing of counterfeit currency.
The suspect, a 53-year-old resident of Pitakotte, is scheduled to be produced before the Nugegoda Magistrate’s Court today (09).
