Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian met with Ayatollah Seyed Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of Iran, as his government entered its third year in office, with the two sides discussing the country’s most important domestic and foreign affairs.

The meeting took place as Ayatollah Seyed Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei’s leadership began following the killing of Iran’s late leader by the United States on February 28. The transfer of leadership occurred amid escalating military tensions between Iran and the United States, placing the country in a new phase of security and political challenges.

According to reports, economic, security and military issues were the main focus of the meeting. Pezeshkian and Iran’s Supreme Leader discussed ways to address people’s livelihood needs, manage financial, foreign currency and energy resources, and develop strategies to tackle economic challenges.

The current phase of the war, developments in the defense and military sectors, and assessments of the country’s future situation were also among the issues discussed.

The meeting also covered ways to strengthen economic cooperation with foreign partners and utilize international engagement opportunities to help manage the country’s economic conditions.
