The Ceylon Teachers' Union (CTU) has urged authorities to take immediate action to ensure justice for students following an incident in which the 2026 Grade 5 Scholarship Examination paper was handed to students late at a school in Kegalle.
Speaking at a media briefing, Ceylon Teachers’ Union President Priyantha Fernando said the Grade 5 Scholarship Examination is an important examination that can have a significant impact on students’ educational future.
He stressed that authorities should pay attention to the injustice caused to students by such incidents and take appropriate measures to ensure that affected students are treated fairly.
Meanwhile, the Ceylon Teachers’ Union has also pointed out that the allowances provided to teachers engaged in duties related to this year’s G.C.E. Advanced Level Examination are inadequate.
Accordingly, Priyantha Fernando said the Government should take steps to provide teachers assigned to Advanced Level Examination duties with adequate allowances, taking into consideration their responsibilities and current expenses.
