Fatal Shooting in Maligawatte: Police suspect ‘Kudu Anju’ ordered attack

A 54-year-old man was shot dead in Maligawatte today (10), with police suspecting that the shooting was allegedly orchestrated by organized crime figure “Kudu Anju,” who is believed to be currently residing in France.

The shooting took place at around 1:20 p.m. near a building materials shop on Sri Sangharaja Mawatha in Maligawatte.

 

Police said two individuals who arrived on a motorcycle carried out the shooting before fleeing the scene.

 

The victim was critically injured and admitted to the Colombo National Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

 

Police said the deceased was a close relative of organized crime figure “Kanjipani Imran.”

 

Investigators suspect the killing may have been carried out in retaliation for the recent murder of a close associate of “Kudu Anju” in Ratmalana.

 

The shooting was captured on CCTV cameras installed at a nearby building.

 

Further investigations into the shooting are underway.
