
An 18-year-old youth has died following a motorcycle accident in the Welihena area in Dambulla.
The accident occurred when the motorcycle travelling towards Bulagala veered off the road after the rider lost control and crashed into a culvert.
The rider, who sustained serious injuries in the accident, was admitted to the Dambulla Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment.
Dambulla Police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
Meanwhile, another person was killed in a separate accident near the Galgodadeniya Junction on the Galle-Udugama Road.
The accident had occurred when a motorcycle travelling towards Galle veered off the road after the rider lost control and crashed into a bus stop.
The rider and pillion rider, who sustained serious injuries, were admitted to the Karapitiya Hospital for treatment. The rider later had succumbed to his injuries.
The deceased was identified as a 27-year-old resident of the Udugama area, police said.
Akkmeemana Police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
