A 25-year-old man has been arrested in Digana for allegedly possessing a foreign-manufactured live hand grenade, stock of crystal methamphetamine and other weapons, police stated.
The suspect was arrested during a raid conducted by a team of officers from the Teldeniya Police Station last evening (11), based on information received by police.
Police reportedly seized 5,155 milligrams of crystal methamphetamine (‘Ice’) and Rs. 63,000 in cash, which is suspected to have been earned through drug trafficking, at the time of the arrest.
Following information obtained from the suspect, investigators inspected his residence and discovered a foreign-manufactured live hand grenade, 1,250 milligrams of Ice, two swords and a pointed knife, which had allegedly been concealed inside the house.
The suspect, a resident of Digana, has been detained for questioning.
Further investigations are being conducted by the Teldeniya Police.
