Over 26,000 individuals inspected in island-wide police operations

Sri Lanka Police arrested a total of 527 suspects yesterday (13) during special island-wide operations conducted to apprehend individuals suspected of involvement in various criminal activities.

 

Police said that a total of 26,882 individuals were subjected to inspections yesterday (13) during the operations.

 

Of those inspected, 26 individuals identified as being directly involved in criminal offences were arrested, while steps were also taken to arrest 126 individuals wanted on warrants.

 

Meanwhile, 50 individuals were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol, while another 101 were taken into custody for reckless driving. Legal action was also initiated against 4,316 individuals for various traffic offences, police said.
