A special traffic plan will be implemented in the Kaduwela area today (16) due to the annual ‘Diya Kapima’ of the Sri Rankadu Paththini Devalaya, Police said.

According to Police, the Perahera is scheduled to proceed along the roads from 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. today.

The procession will commence near the Devalaya and proceed along the 143 Avissawella–Colombo bus route, crossing the Kaduwela Rajasinghe Bridge towards Bandarawatta and the Biyagama area.

Following the completion of the ‘Diya Kapima’ ritual, the procession will return to the Devalaya along the same route via Kaduwela Junction.

Police have advised motorists and members of the public travelling through the area to use alternative routes during the period of the procession to minimize traffic congestion.

Alternative route:

When traffic is restricted near Wele Junction on the 143 Avissawella–Colombo bus route, motorists can use the 697 bus route via Pattiyawatta Road, join the 177 Kaduwela–Kollupitiya bus route, and proceed along Rajasinghe Mawatha towards Malabe before rejoining the 143 Avissawella–Colombo bus route.
