Teen dead, one rescued & another missing in drowning incident in Ma Oya

One person has died, another has been rescued, and a third remains missing following a drowning incident in the Ma Oya in the Madurupitiya area of Meerigama.
According to Police, three youths had gone to bathe in the Ma Oya yesterday (15), where they had drowned.
Two of them were rescued by area residents and were admitted to Dambadeniya Hospital.
One of the youths, who was in critical condition, later had succumbed.
He was identified as a 19-year-old resident of Meerigama, Police said.
Search operations are continuing for the missing youth, with officers from the Meerigama Police, the Police Life-Saving Unit and area residents taking part in the operation.
