Amber advisory issued for strong winds and rough seas
An Amber-level advisory has been issued for strong winds and rough seas in the sea areas extending from Kankasanthurai to Kalpitiya via Mannar, and from Matara to Pottuvil via Hambantota.
The advisory issued by the Department of Meteorology will be in effect until 10.30 a.m. tomorrow (18).
The Met. Department noted that affected sea areas are expected to be rough at times, with strong gusty winds reaching speeds of up to 50-60 kmph.
Meanwhile, naval personnel and fishing communities engaged in activities in the affected sea areas have been advised to remain vigilant and exercise caution.
