Land values in the Colombo District increased at a moderate pace during the first half of 2026, with the overall Land Valuation Indicator (LVI) rising 5.9% year-on-year, according to the Central Bank of Sri Lanka.

The increase was recorded when compared with the corresponding period of 2025, with all three sub-indicators of the LVI posting moderate growth.

The Residential Land Valuation Indicator recorded the highest increase, rising 6.7%, while the Commercial LVI increased by 5.7% and the Industrial LVI by 5.2%.

The Central Bank said the overall LVI and all three sub-indicators also increased in the first half of 2026 compared with the second half of 2025.

Residential and Industrial land values recorded higher increases than those observed during the second half of 2025, indicating stronger momentum in these segments during the first six months of the year.

The latest figures point to continued growth in Colombo’s property market, although the Central Bank described the pace of increase as moderate.

The Land Valuation Indicator is compiled by the Central Bank to track developments in land prices in the Colombo District across residential, commercial and industrial categories.
