
Showers can be expected at times in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in the Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Galle and Matara districts today (20), the Department of Meteorology has predicted.
Several spells of showers are expected in the North-Western Province, while showers or thundershowers may occur in a few places in the Uva Province and in the Ampara and Batticaloa districts after 2 p.m., the Met. Department added.
Mainly dry weather will prevail over the rest of the island.
Meanwhile, fairly strong winds of around 30–40 kmph are expected at times over the western slopes of the Central Hills, the Northern, North-Central, North-Western and Southern provinces, and in the Trincomalee and Matale districts.
The general public has been urged to take necessary precautions to minimize possible damage from temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
