
A total of Rs. 10 million in government funds has been allocated for the development of Muslim places of worship in the Gampaha District, the Ministry of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs stated.
The programme is being implemented in conjunction with the 42nd National Milad-un-Nabi State Festival, with the aim of strengthening religious institutions and promoting a harmonious future.
The necessary steps have been taken by the Ministry of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs and the Department of Muslim Religious and Cultural Affairs.
Meanwhile, a reconciliation programme titled “Welcome to Our Mosque” has also been organized alongside the 42nd National Milad-un-Nabi State Festival.
Under the programme, people of other faiths will have the opportunity to visit a mosque and learn about its internal culture, history and religious practices.
In a Facebook post, Minister Vijitha Herath invited everyone to join in building a bridge of reconciliation by fostering mutual understanding, respect and goodwill towards creating a united Sri Lanka.
Accordingly, the Periyamulla Jumma Masjid and the Negombo Mosque will be open to the public from 9.30 a.m. tomorrow (24).
