First Randoli Perahera parades the streets of Kandy

The first Randoli Perahera of the historic Kandy Esala Perahera has commenced parading the streets of Kandy.
The first Randoli Perahera began at the auspicious time of 6.44 p.m. today from the Sri Dalada Maligawa.
The Randoli Perahera will take to the streets for five consecutive days, with the final Randoli Perahera scheduled to be held on August 27.
The Kandy Esala Perahera, one of Sri Lanka’s most significant cultural and religious festivals, attracts thousands of devotees and visitors each year.
A special traffic and security management plan is also in place for the Kandy Perahera.
