Showers will occur at times in Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Kandy, Nuwara-Eliya, Galle and Matara districts, today (24), the Department of Meteorology stated.
Several spells of showers may occur in North Western Province, it said.
Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in Ampara, Monaragala and Batticaloa districts after 2.00 p.m.
Mainly dry weather will prevail over the other areas of the island, the Met. Department added.
Fairly strong winds of about 30-40 kmph can be expected at times over Western slopes of the Central hills, North-central and North-western provinces and in Mannar, Trincomalee, Hambantota and Matale Districts.
The general public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damage caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
