11 new Ambassadors, High Commissioners present credentials to President

Eleven newly appointed ambassadors and high commissioners from across the world presented their credentials to President Anura Kumara Dissanayake today (25) at the Presidential Secretariat.

 

The new diplomatic envoys represent Brazil, Bangladesh, China, Austria, the United States, the Dominican Republic, Ghana, Brunei Darussalam, Sudan, Guyana and Panama.

 

Among those who presented their credentials were Brazilian Ambassador Jorge Geraldo Kadri, Chinese Ambassador Wei Huaxiang, Austrian Ambassador Dr. Robert Zischg, and US Ambassador Eric S. Meyer.

 

The other ambassadors were Francisco Manuel Comprés Hernández of the Dominican Republic, Dr. Mohammed Abdalla Ali Eltom of Sudan, and Nubiela Yanarith Ayala of Panama.

 

The high commissioners included D.M. Salahuddin Mahmud of Bangladesh, Prof. Kwasi Obiri-Danso of Ghana, Siti Arnyfariza Md Jaini of Brunei Darussalam, and Dharamkumar Seeraj of Guyana.

 

The newly appointed envoys are based in Colombo, New Delhi or Hanoi, depending on their respective diplomatic missions, the President’s Media Division.

 

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism Vijitha Herath and Secretary to the President Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake were also present at the credential presentation ceremony.

 

The presentation of credentials formally marks the commencement of the new envoys’ diplomatic assignments in Sri Lanka.
