Amber advisory issued for high waves

The Department of Meteorology has issued an “Amber” advisory for high waves about 2.0 meters – 3.0 meters height in the sea areas extending from Colombo to Pottuvil via Galle, Matara and Hambantota.

 

According to the Department of Meteorology, there is a possibility that near shore sea areas off the coast extending from Beruwala to Matara via Galle may experience surges due to swell waves.

 

Accordingly, the naval and fishing communities are requested to be vigilant in this regard.
