Showers will occur at times in Western, Sabaragamuwa and North-western provinces and in Kandy, Nuwara-Eliya, Galle and Matara districts, today (27), the Department of Meteorology stated.
Fairly heavy rainfall above 50 mm are likely at some places, it said.
Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in Ampara, Monaragala, Hambanthota and Batticaloa districts after 2.00 p.m.
Mainly dry weather will prevail over the other areas of the island, the Met. Department added.
Strong winds of about 40-50 kmph can be expected at times over Western slopes of the Central hills, Northern, North-central and North-western provinces and in Trincomalee, Monaragala, Hambantota and Matale Districts.
The general public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damage caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
