
A total of 17 plantation workers have been hospitalised after being attacked by wasps while plucking tea leaves in Hatton.
The injured workers, including 16 women and one man, were admitted to the Dickoya Base Hospital following the attack.
The incident occurred at the 7th tea field in the upper section of Raja Estate, within the Hatton Police Division. According to reports, a wasp nest on a tree was disturbed, prompting the insects to attack a group of plantation workers who were working nearby.
