Pamunugama Tragedy: Body of 13-year-old boy recovered
The body of a 13-year-old boy who went missing after being swept away by strong waves at the Epamulla beach in Pamunugama, Ja-Ela has been recovered, police said.
The boy was among four people who were swept into the sea while bathing at the beach last afternoon (30).
A 35-year-old woman, her daughter and two other children were caught in the waves and went missing.
Police said the bodies of the woman and two girls had been recovered earlier today.
The deceased have been identified as a 35-year-old woman, a four-year-old girl, a 12-year-old girl and a 13-year-old boy.
Police and rescue teams had been conducting search operations along the coastline following the incident.
